  • Ronn Bell  - Mixed Open 8+
Great venue Jax! My only issue is that our mixed 8+ was running a bit late after
the lunch break and boat crash delay. As we made our way to the start line we
had one official telling us that we were waiting for another race to go off
before us and to hold tight; whilst the starting officials were screaming at us
to get into the chute. Consequently, trying to make the turn into the chute, we
missed the start buoys and were penalized and did not get a good run in to the
chute to start the race. The officials should have allowed us to back it out and
get a proper start. I think this was a gross misjudgment on the referees' part.
However, we will gladly accept the gold with the 30 second penalty imposed upon
us (including a missed buoy down the course). Stuff happens in the most well
organized of these events; a job well done, Jax. Thanks for the opportunity to
    row in your venue.

  • Tony Haugh  - online posting of entries
When will the list of competitors in each event be posted online, and where will
    they be?
  • Shirley Deese
Tony - I am working on the list now, but I won't have a complete list until
registration closes on the 3rd. I will post them on the site under updates.

  • Rich Budell  - Race schedule
I trust I'm not the only one concerned that the mens and womens 8+s are
scheduled back-to-back at the end of the day... What about clubs/schools that
need to share shells between their mens ltwt and womens crews? There is no time
to hotseat shells and therefore one crew must sacrifice to another. Makes no
sense to me.. Most Head races schedule mens and womens 8+s farther apart to
manage this common situation. Youy will lose registration money if you don't
    change it.....
  • Kirsten Anderson  - Race schedule
Can you switch the Women's 8 & 4 events so that we can share equipment with our
men's/women's team as well as our masters?

Perhaps the women's 8's go down where you currently have the 4's scheduled?

Will you cancel the 8 events if the weather kicks up, or switch around the
    schedule?
  • Peter  - Registration
On line registration has women's events listed twice (eg event 1 is the same as
    event 8).
  • Webmaster
Thanks Peter you are correct. Even 1-7 is the Men category and this issue has
    been corrected.
  • WOLFE
When do you plan on opening registration and how do we register this year?
  • Brad Good
Registration will be open by August 31st. Registration instructions will be
posted online. Please keep checking the Website for more information.
  • David Gardner  - FCHR date for 2009?
Have you picked the date for 2009? I'm assuming October 10? David Gardner
    (masters)
  • Andy  - LOC
Right now it is planned for Oct 10th.
  • Bill Campbell  - Great job folks!
Thanks for making the 20th First Coast Head Race a success! Only wish the
weather had cooperated a bit more, but you guys put on a first-rate regatta!
  • Jeff Streif
What are the schools/teams that are going to be in the FCHR???
  • Regatta Director
Please see the schedule for the complete list.
  • Kellen  - Cox
On the third brige going down the race course, how wide is it between the
    pillers?
  • Regatta Director
I don't have the exact width of the distance between the pillers. You have two
    sets to choose from.
  • kellen  - cox
Can you guess the distance as you go under the bridge from oar to piller?
  • Regatta Director
If I had to guess. I would say at least between 8-10 feet each side.
  • Betsy Baker  - Cox
Is there a place competitors for each event is listed?
  • Rick McClure  - USRowing Membership
The online information indicates that USRowing membership is required. Is that
institutional membership or individual membership of each rower?
  • Regatta Director
    Institutional Membership
  • Kristen DeAndrade  - Coxswain Rule
Is there a limit as to how many races a coxswain can cox?
  • Regatta Director
There is no limit on the number of races a coxswain can cox or a rower can
rower. Please remember that we will not hold races for hot seating.
  • Masters Rower  - FCHR course simlar to Head of the Charles
I hear that the FCHR course is similar to the Head of the Charles course?
  • Regatta Director
This course is a mirror image of the Head of the Charles; the skill required is
very high, and not for novice coxswains. This challenging three mile (4.8K)
course begins on the St. Johns River, winds down the beautiful Arlington River,
passes under three bridges, and has a 90 degree turn at the end of the course.
This is not a course for novice coxswains. Residential neighborhoods and marshes
protect the majority of the race waters.
